Leveraging Technology to Revolutionize PSPs for Maximum Patient-Centricity
Patient Support Programs (PSPs) are comprehensive, enduring initiatives that enable biopharmaceutical companies to understand patient experiences and create long-term relationships with them through multiple touchpoints and tailored interventions. In the GVP Module VI (Rev 2) section VI.C.2.2.11, patient support programmes are defined as “an organised system where a marketing authorisation holder receives and collects information relating to the use of its medicinal products. Examples are post-authorization patient support and disease management programmes, surveys of patients and healthcare professionals, information gathering on patient compliance, or compensation/re-imbursement schemes.”.
PSPs play a crucial role in patient management. They provide patients with the necessary tools and resources to manage their conditions effectively, such as education, counseling, and access to medication. They also help healthcare professionals by providing them with the necessary information and training to support their patients.
By taking a more holistic approach to patient management, PSPs can help reduce costly hospitalizations and emergency room visits and improve the health of patients with chronic conditions. They are particularly effective for managing conditions like diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and depression.
Technology and virtualization can have a significant impact on PSPs. Using both technology-enabled remote capabilities and face-to-face engagements like home visits, PSPs provide personalized support. These tools can be used to deliver education and support to patients remotely, making it easier for patients to access the resources they need. Virtual support groups can also be used to connect patients with others who are going through similar experiences, providing them with emotional support and a sense of community.
At Evidilya, we have a wealth of experience when it comes to PSPs. We understand the importance of patient-centricity and are committed to providing patients with the support they need to manage their conditions effectively.
One example of our work in this area is a PSP we developed for patients with diabetes. This program provided patients with access to education and support for managing their condition, as well as tools for tracking their blood sugar levels and medication adherence. We also developed a virtual coaching program for patients, which provided them with personalized support and guidance.
We would be honored to work with you to develop a PSP that meets the needs of your patients and healthcare professionals. Remember our payoff: people and research first.
